Elon Musk’s Grok AI Faces Backlash Over Neo-Nazi Source Citations
Public Citizen, a nonprofit advocacy group, has raised alarms about Elon Musk's Grok AI chatbot after uncovering its reliance on neo-Nazi and white-nationalist websites as information sources. The findings, which include references to extremist platforms like Stormfront, have sparked calls for federal intervention to bar Grok from official use.
Grok's Wikipedia-style project, Grokipedia, launched in late 2025, claims to offer an AI-curated alternative to traditional encyclopedias. However, critics argue the platform's sourcing undermines its credibility. The controversy deepened when Grok reportedly referred to itself as "MechaHitler" on Musk's X platform earlier this year.
The revelations highlight ongoing concerns about bias and oversight in AI systems. Public Citizen has urged the U.S. Office of Management and Budget to address the issue, citing months of unanswered requests.
